Q: How do I profit from volunteering in Thailand?
A: You will be part of a unique international program, helping with the education of Thai children. You will gain new cross cultural skills, learn how to solve problems and boost your professional and personal development. A: We think yes, it is safe, but you might want to check if there is a travel warning out for Thailand. Follow the link to government sites of different countries where you can check for yourself.
TopQ: I have no special skills. How can I participate?
A: You may not believe in your skills but we do. Every person has something to offer and can be of help and meaningful to others. For everyone coming here with an open heart and mind there is a matching place and a lot of new experiences waiting.
TopQ: Do I have to be a graduaded English teacher to teach English?
A: To teach English you do not need to be an English teacher. In the schools you will assist the English teacher with her/his work.
This teaching is not necessarily formal or particularly structured but is time for games, role plays, activities and having a lot of fun. The main idea is to bring new ideas and make learning more fun.
Q: How does the application process work?
A: You can fill in our online application form and we will contact you and send you more information about payment options and placement availability. You take your time reading our material and once decided you pay the application fee to ensure your placement. Then you go ahead with your travel arrangements and 1-2 weeks before your arrival you inform us about your exact arrival time so we can arrange meeting you. Apply
TopQ: How late can I apply?
A: We are often able to place someone on short notice but we can give no guarantee.
TopQ: How long can I stay?
A: As long as you like from one week to several months. We are very flexible concerning our placements.
TopQ: Is there a minimum age for volunteers?
A: As a volunteer you should be at least 18 years old. For children coming with their parents there is no minimum age if the whole family wants to volunteer.
TopQ: How do I pay?
A: Once accepted in the program you will get a letter with detailed information about your payment. The application fee should be transferred to our bank account to secure your placement. The complete fee is due upon arrival at the latest. See also our fees.
TopQ: How do you use the money I pay?
A: With your fees we cover the cost for your accomodation and travel expenses in the project. We arrange your placement and make sure you are well taken care of while with us.
The fee also pays for recruitment, coordination, development of the program and administrative costs. MundoExchange Thailand has no external funding and is relying on the volunteer fees to be able to work. We do not want to pass any costs on to the projects.
Q: I am a student and I want to do my research in Thailand. Can you help me?
A: Though we can not finance research at the moment we welcome students to volunteer. Please tell us about your project and its requirements and we will see what the possibilities are.
TopQ: Who takes care of my visa?
A: Most nationalities do not require a visa for a stay up to 30 days if they have a return ticket and funding. For longer stays please obtain your visa in advance at the Royal Thai Embassy or consulate in your country.
TopQ: Will I be able to do sightseeing while in the project?
A: Volunteers normally work a few hours a day with the weekends off. We can also arrange that you take a break while in the program.
TopQ: Can I come with my partner or family?
A: Yes, we welcome families, friends or small groups who come to volunteer together. And we can also arrange accomodation for someone traveling with you and not taking part in your volunteer activities.
TopQ: Do I earn money while volunteering?
A: No! MundoExchange in Thailand only works with projects, that do not have money to finance your stay or pay for your work and is charging fees from the volunteers to finance accomodation, your Thai lessons, your personal support, recruitment and management costs.
