Using this website is as far as technically possible without the need for collecting personal identifiable data from you (in other words, we do not use cookies or other means to collect hidden data from you). Please read our Privacy Statement to learn what data we might ask from you and how we protect it.

For volunteers

The following terms and conditions are an agreement between you once you become a volunteer and Global Experience. Thai-Experience is the name of our project in Thailand. Global Experience has it’s office and is registered in Thailand under # 4/2552 When you apply for a Global Experience volunteer experience, you agree to the following terms.

International travel is inherently risky. By becoming a volunteer, you acknowledge and accept these risks and those associated with living and working in developing countries. As a volunteer you must appreciate and understand that some of these activities may be outside of your personal insurance coverage.

Global Experience is not liable (to the maximum extent of the law) for any loss or harm you may suffer, including but not limited to loss caused by delay, bodily injury or death, vehicle accidents, damage to or loss of property, war or terrorism or natural disasters.

Volunteers and family can contact English speaking Global Experience staff in Thailand by email or telephone.

Global Experience is not liable for any errors or mistakes made by partner organisations. All disputes are governed by the laws of Thailand.

Passport and Visas

You must ensure that you have a passport, valid until at least 6 months after your planned return date. Global-Experience is not liable for any problems encountered with customs and immigration.

Accommodation and Meals

The accommodation, food (where applicable) and toilet facilities will be of a local standard that may differ from what you are accustomed to in your home country. You may be required to share a bedroom and/or bathroom.

Travel Advice

If the security situation requires it, Global-Experience may issue travel advice during your placement. The advice we give will be based on information by the Bureau of Consular Affairs, U.S. Department of State, irrespective of your nationality. Before you travel, it is your responsibility to check all relevant travel advice.

It is your responsibility to clarify any travel advice or information that you receive from Global-Experience so that you can make an informed decision.


Please seek medical advice before you travel abroad to volunteer. Volunteers are responsible for their own vaccinations and medical and drug supplies. We reserve the right to reject your application, cancel your booking or terminate your volunteer placement on medical grounds.


Please ensure, that you have a health insurance that covers your travel abroad. The insurance must include adequate cover for medical expenses. Additionally you should think about insurance cover for the cost of repatriation should you become too ill too continue you placement, including helicopter rescue and air ambulance.

We will ask you for a copy of you health insurance upon arrival at your placement, because most hospitals in the countries we work in ask for a downpayment or proof of insurance before they treat you.

What we provide

We arrange suitable accommodation (by local standards) and food (where applicable) during the volunteer placement. We arrange local coordinators to lead and manage projects where required. We provide international travel assistance and advice. Global-Experience reserves the right to refuse to offer the service to anyone for any reason.

We will use all reasonable skill and care in arranging your placement in accordance with these terms and conditions. Unless we have failed to use reasonable skill and care as above, we will not be liable for what projects do or do not do or for any loss, damage, expense or other claim of any description which you suffer in connection with your placement.

Change of placement – Sometimes schools, temples and orphanages do not require a volunteer as previously agreed. In this case Global Experience will offer a similar placement.


You are solely responsible for your decision to use forms of transportation while travelling and during placement, be it train, airplane, bus, taxi, tuktuk, bicycle, motorbike, or any other form of transportation, whether it be operated by local hosts, placement staff or by any other form of transportation company or yourself.

As a traveller and volunteer you realize that transportation options that you may select to use, may lead to accidents where you solely responsible for any expenses from injuries or death. You will not hold Global Experience or any of its local partners, hosts and other individuals responsible. Global Experience strongly suggests that volunteers do not ride with drivers without licenses or insurance if the volunteer expects reimbursement if accidents occur. Most drivers, where volunteers assist, do not have the insurance policies or financial means to assist if there is an accident.

You are responsible for arranging and paying for flights to and within your chosen country.

We / your local coordinator cannot meet, reimburse or otherwise be responsible for any flight, travel or other costs or expenses of any nature (including, for example, any charges made by airlines etc. for cancelling, changing or transferring flights or other arrangements) which are incurred or arise as a result of your placement not proceeding or being cancelled, curtailed, withdrawn or changed due to circumstances outside our control/the control of your local coordinator.

Payment and the application process

Upon receipt of the application form we will assess your suitability for the program and look for place you on one of our programs. We will return detailed information about your placement, other helpful information and an invoice. If you accept the placement you should e-mail to confirm and pay the deposit to secure your placement. However, if you withdraw your application at any stage, as we will have already incurred costs in processing your application and looking for a placement, we regret that we cannot refund your deposit, as we need to cover our costs incurred on your behalf. We will, however, refund your deposit and any other fees paid to date, if we cannot locate a placement for you.

The volunteer fee needs to be paid to us 4 weeks before you are due to start your placement. If, for any reason, the volunteer does not make full payment by this date, Global-Experience reserves the right to offer the volunteer’s placement to someone else, without any refund to the volunteer.

We welcome you to continue to e-mail us with questions or concerns as you prepare for your travels. As soon as you have made your travelling arrangements please e-mail us with your time of arrival and means of transportation and we will confirm pickup.

The total payment (ie. the deposit and remaining sum paid) shall become non-refundable 1 week after the project start date.

Failure to timely pay the outstanding balance will result in the volunteer’s placement to be cancelled, without liability on the part of Global-Experience.

Making Changes to your Booking

If you wish to make any changes to your placement, we will try our best to do this for you. You must ensure that you request changes in writing. Changes to project dates will not be allowed once the placement has started.


Once paid, the deposit is non-refundable. Any refunds of the remaining fees shall be refunded at Global-Experience’ discretion, and will only be for each full week not completed. Refunds will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.


We will only cancel your placement when we receive instructions in writing (e-mail or letter) from you. Cancellation is effective from the day we receive this notification.

Any cancellation before your placement start date will not incur any charges, the deposit will remain non-refundable. Amendments, once your placement has started, are at the discretion of Global-Experience.

Ending the Agreement

We will end our agreement with you, in writing: If we discover that you have deliberately lied or not disclosed important requested information about yourself during the application process, which may call into question your suitability for volunteering. If you are found to be involved in the misuse of substances which are illegal in the country of your placement and/or your home country, or you are charged or convicted of a criminal offence while you are on your placement. If you break any part of the volunteer code of conduct. In certain circumstances, we may find it more appropriate to issue a written warning to you. We will make the reasons for the warning clear, and give you a reasonable amount of time to alter your behaviour. If you do not comply with this request, we will end our agreement with you.

You may end your agreement with us, in writing: If Global-Experience has failed to provide you with the appropriate placement. For personal reasons, i.e. family illness. In these circumstances, you may be able to claim for part of your placement fee, less the appropriate excess, through any travel policy you may have purchased. If you terminate your agreement with us for personal reasons once you have started your placement but prior to its completion, you are responsible for the consequences of that decision. We and your local coordinator will not be responsible for you once you have left your placement; will not be responsible for any costs, expenses, loss or other sum(s) of any description you incur or suffer as a result; and will not give you any refund of any payments you have made.

Complaint procedure

If the Volunteer wishes to make a complaint in relation to the project, he/she shall bring the complaint to the attention of the local coordinator, who shall use his/her reasonable efforts to resolve the complaint within a reasonable time. If the local coordinator is unable to resolve a serious complaint, and the volunteer leaves the project before the completion date, the volunteer shall provide the local coordinator with a written version of events prior to volunteer’s departure. No compensation shall be given to the Volunteer, unless there are extreme circumstances, which shall be determined at the sole discretion of Global-Experience. The Volunteer agrees that under no circumstances shall Global-Experience be liable for damages or compensation arising from any claim related to the assessment of inconvenience, disappointment, discomfort or loss of enjoyment.

Code of conduct

Please understand that you are a representative of not only Global-Experience but also your country of origin and act accordingly.

Realise Global-Experience has a zero tolerance policy towards the possession and use of illegal substances. If you are found in possession of, or are under the influence of such substances, you will have your placement contract terminated immediately. Respect, and seek to understand, the culture of the country you volunteer in. This involves being tolerant to varying approaches of the local people (your coordinator can explain the cultural norms and advise you). Be aware of potentially different attitudes towards sexual relationships in your host country and understand the effect that any such relationship may have on individuals and the local community. Treat all people with respect and dignity. Do not engage in political demonstrations or illegal activities. Keep your local coordinator informed of your plans about trips and weekends. Abide by all the rules of the project at which you are working and respect them as any other member of staff. Do not accept payment of any kind for the work you are doing. Work hard to achieve not only your own personal goals but also those of the project and the people and / or organisation that you are helping. Listen to, and follow, the instructions of your supervisor / contact at the project in addition to those of your local coordinator. Inform your supervisor / contact at the project if you are at any time unable to fulfil the duties to which you have committed, i.e. if you are sick. Treat with care all of the materials that you use during your placement. Abide by the rules of the accommodation in which you are staying. Rules vary and orphanages or temples have a special set of rules due to their nature. Check with either the owner of accommodation before inviting anybody to your room, overnight visitors are not allowed. Respect the accommodation you are using and pay for any damage you may cause to the property. Keep your room clean and tidy. Do not smoke in your accommodation. Be aware that there will be no refunds for food/accommodation if you decide to go on trips or leave early.

Accuracy of Marketing Materials

We believe that all marketing statements are true at time of printing. Every reasonable effort has been made to ensure that only correct details are given. Global-Experience will not be held responsible for any changes that become known after any promotional material has been produced, nor can we accept liability for happenings outside our reasonable control.

Use of photos and comments

By agreeing to these terms and conditions you agree that we may use any photo(s)/image(s) we or someone on our behalf take of you or any comments (written or verbal) you make during or in connection with your placement for our promotional/marketing purposes (such as including them in our brochure / website) without obtaining your further specific permission or making any payment to you. Such use may include mentioning your name, age and town / city / area of residence.

Personal Data

It may be necessary for Global Experience to pass on data about the volunteer. The volunteer hereby agrees that Global Experience may disclose his/her personal data, including any sensitive personal data such as relevant medical history, to the local coordinators and any other representatives in the host countries.
