Nam Suay is located in the north-east of Thailand, in the province of Nongkhai, 20 km north of the town Nongkhai.
Volunteering in Nam Suay is an option for volunteers who like to help at a rural Thai village school while staying in Nongkhai.
Nam Suay Wittaya School has about 740 students coming fom the surrounding villages. 4 English teachers teach grade 7 to grade 12. At the moment the school only has one computer teacher and IT classes are limited to the older students.
The school has one computer room with 23 computers of different age.
Each class has 35 to 40 students. That is not unusual in Thai schools but a lot to handle for an unexperienced volunteer. Two of the English teachers are fluent in English and help wherever they can with translations for computer classes as well. The other two English teachers are less fluent and especially ask for assistance in practizing listening and speaking skills with their students.
Minimum stay is 1 week.

Volunteers can either stay in one of our volunteer houses in the center of town or we can help arranging a guesthouse or hotel stay.
Nam Suay is a few kilometers out of Nongkhai, connected by bus. Some volunteers prefered to ride their bicycle to school. There is also the possibility to travel to school with one of the teachers.
The school has a canteen where one can buy food, drinks and ice cream. It is open from early morning until after lunch.
The school has a wish list for donations which includes computers and computer parts, books, chairs and tables and renovation of the bathrooms.
