This Tha Bo placement is for those wanting to experience traditional Thai life and go beyond what they are accustomed to. Days are spent enjoying interesting learning activities and nights talking and eating with new friends. Volunteers also have the opportunity to explore one of the most important Buddha images in the Nongkhai area. It probably was built in the 1560's by King Chai Chetha from Laos and is found at Wat Si Chomphoo Ong Tu in the Tha Bo district.

Volunteers in the Tha Bo area walk, bicycle, motorbike and travel by car with their Thai hosts through beautiful farmland to their village school placement.
This rural school is nothing short of spectacular. Students and staff actively maintain the organic vegetable and flower gardens. There are fishponds, an animal observation area, a swimming pool, reading room, sports area and more. Volunteers and students can work with and learn about the domestic and wild animals of the Tha Bo area. Some enjoy the learning and setting so much that they come early and leave late to participate in various learning and game activities.
Khun Khamdi, the progressive and humanitarian-minded director, is actively involved with promoting student, staff and volunteer ideas that support project based learning, cross-cultural insight and environmental improvement of the Nongkhai area.
Khun Supapon, English teacher in Tha Bo, is one of our home stay hosts in this area.
Our volunteers are the first in this area to stay near or with the Thai staff and help teach English to both younger and older students who are eager to learn from Westerners. Most of the 365 students have parents who work the rice fields and agricultural gardens nearby.
