Our headquarters are in Nongkhai in north-eastern Thailand called Isaan. Many volunteer projects we work with are located around here too for different reasons.
Nongkhai itself is a laid-back town. Many tourists only pass Nongkhai on their way to the Friendship Bridge to cross the Mekong into Laos missing the beauty Nongkhai has to offer. No accountable industry, a border town surrounded by villages living mostly on farming, wonderful nature with waterfalls, the river at your doorstep, but few perspectives for youth to learn and develop or find a well paid job after school. Resources for education are limited. To continue education requires one often to move to Bangkok and that is where the jobs are too.
We are involved with schools and temples, vocational training centres and a home for disabled persons.
In Buengkan, 150 km east of Nongkhai we also have another volunteer center. Buengkan is also the main hub for most of our home stay volunteers in the surrounding villages.
